The liver is an organ responsible for food digestion, blood purification, and metabolic processes. It is easily accessible for examination during an ultrasound scan. We can see its shape, contours, and homogeneity of the structure (to diagnose hepatosis, suspect hepatitis). We can visualize veins (portal, hepatic), arteries, density of bile ducts (signs of cholangitis), and measure the size of liver lobes, which are the main indicator of liver disease when changed (such as hepatitis).
The gallbladder is a reservoir for holding bile produced by the liver. It has the shape of an elongated bag. During its examination, the volume (which shows us the correctness of its work), shape, and possible folds that can cause an incomplete contraction of the gallbladder, the condition of its wall, and the content of the gallbladder (whether there is sediment from which polyps and stones can form) are important. The permeability of the bile ducts is also assessed.
The pancreas is not only an enzymatic but also a hormonal organ. It consists of the head, body, and tail. During examination, we assess the size and density of pancreatic tissue. During ultrasound examination, we diagnose pancreatitis (chronic, acute, reactive), cysts, and neoplasms.
The spleen is an organ of immune defense and lymphoid hematopoiesis.
P.S. If you experience any changes in your body, do not hesitate to seek medical attention and undergo quality ultrasound examination in Ivano-Frankivsk, because a timely diagnosis is the key to your health!
