Video thoracoscopy is a minimally invasive endoscopic surgical intervention using a special instrument, a thoracoscope. The surgeon accesses the chest through punctures in the chest. The absence of a large traumatic incision is the main advantage for the patient. In this regard, on the day of surgery, a person can get up, walk, and quickly return to normal activities (with partial restrictions on the rehabilitation period).
If the use of video thoracoscopy is not possible due to indications, surgeons will perform a thoracotomy – an open access operation.
